The mural was continuation of a mutilple mural project my brother Rich started many years ago. He would created a small painting and then create grids. He would then set-up a large blank canvas at the annual Ocean Beach Street Fair. For a donation anybody could paint a 12 x 12 grid. When it was done it would be a representation of his original painting. These mural are now hanging all over Ocean Beach. After Rich passed friends continued the tradition. The mural above was painted a a couple of months after he passed.
Yes this is our father William George James. He's been in San Diego for a little more than a year now. We moved him down here after the loss of our Mother Nila Marie James and Brother Richard Donald James . He came down from Redding Ca. where we have a family Home. Currently our sister Kelley's daughter Jennifer lives in the house with her family ,husband James and children Marissa, Rebecca, and James.
The Ocean beach community mural was started by our brother Rich.
It is created at our annual street fair as a community fundraiser.
Rich would create a rendition grid it out in 1 foot squares. People purchase a square and paint that square. It became a popular tradition. There are a dozen or so mural scatterd about Ocean Beach.
