I talked with Dad this morning to ask him about Clyde James who is buried in the Astor Cemetery. His father was Robert and his mother was Alice. Robert was the oldest son of George and Sarah. Robert, Alice, Clyde and a little sister, Mildred, are all buried in Astor.
Clyde lived on a farm a mile west of Astor. He died in San Bernadino but was buried in Iowa. The census shows he moved from IA to Dakota and on.
His wife Ethel Hoffman is the interesting person here. She was married several times before she and Clyde were married. Dad said they had this really long name for her. Dad says it so fast, I can't understand it all. Ethel Hoffman somethin' Hoffman somethin' James!!
Clyde called her Madame Queen. Clyde and Ethel eventually parted ways too.
